Participating in research sometimes helps people learn about themselves. If you discover that you are experiencing stress, feelings of being overwhelmed, anxiety or panic, depression, academic distress, or if you are just in need of support and counseling, there are services that can help.

General resources

Department of Psychology Community Clinic. Offers adult psychotherapy for UNC students and staff, as well as individuals from the surrounding community. Reduced fees are offered based on income. Clinics are strictly appointment based and will not accept walk-ins. Compass Center for Women and Families: Services include career and financial education, domestic violence crisis and prevention programs, assistance with legal resources, and youth health programs. Resources for UNC Students 

Heels Care Network. This is a gateway for mental health and wellness resources for everyone on campus: to find a support group, learn strategies for mental health, connect with trainings and advocacy organizations or find wellness events on campus. The Heels Care Network is a collective effort of a wide range of people and entities across campus. You can access these resources here: https://www.care.unc.edu/

UNC’s Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Services are free and can even be accessed without an appointment. Contact them on Monday - Thursday between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, and Friday between 9:30 am - 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Sexual Assault Response. Campus Health offers a variety of options for services for sexual assault survivors and will let the survivor decide which options they would like to pursue. Campus Health has Nurse Practitioners and a Registered Nurse trained as Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) on staff and available between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. To review your options for care, call (919) 966-6577 or go directly to Gynecology located on the third floor of Campus Health as soon as possible after a sexual assault.
