Collaboration
What this means to us:
We believe that science is done best when it is done in collaboration with others working together as a collective. We believe a team that is based on trust, empathy, transparency, mutual accountability, and humility is essential for our work.
How we enact it:
Every project is collaborative. During weekly meetings we discuss our current progress on our individual projects and trade advice and resources. We also set aside time during these meetings for someone to present an idea or give a talk so we can offer feedback or learn from them.
As an interdisciplinary team, we collaborate within our lab, with other labs in the department, with other departments at our university, and with collaborators outside our institution.
We strive to understand the interests, skills, and projects being led by one another, so we know who to reach out to for collaboration, assistance, or advice to advance a project. We offer our expertise to one another without hesitation and without “keeping score.”
