Sometimes, friendships just seem to click! Other times, a first meeting will rub you the wrong way. If you’ve experienced one or both of these, you may wonder:

What makes a good first impression?

How do you know you want to become friends with someone?

What information do we pay attention to when interacting with someone for the first time?

Good questions! Us researchers wonder the same things. Here at the Social Neuroscience and Health lab, we study how the brain and the immune system work together to influence our behaviors and experiences. The First Impressions Study is a research project aiming to answer questions about what the brain and immune system are doing during friendship formation.

We’re looking for healthy adults, age 18-30 to participate in this study. Explore the other pages on this site to find out more about the study, or click below to see if you may be eligible.
